Siddhartha Spirit Child, Film of Opera

Posted: 2 October, 2025 | Category: Mainly Composition

This post introduces the 2001 opera by Jenni Roditi, Siddhartha Spirit Child, as a new form of opera-film, made from 69 short opera reels.

On July 18th 2025, I began the task of animating the recording of my opera, Siddhartha Spirit Child, into a visualised storyboard of the complete work, which is over 2 hours long.

The reels are mainly around 1-2 minutes in duration each, with a few going up to 3-4 minutes.

I have worked backwards and forwards on the materials over the last three months. Here is the first 2’34” reel – which I have just posted 4.10.2025.

You can find the complete piece now published as continous opera reels on the main project page – Siddhartha Spirit Child Opera plus a lot more background information on this composition.
